We would welcome practical assistance from anyone interested in helping to maintain the aims of the Trust. This can include giving up some time to check the ponies and help is also needed from fit, active people when rounding up the ponies prior to transfer to an alternative site.
Volunteers provide practical assistance with the ponies. Most of the volunteers are Lookerers, who take turns to visit the ponies on their grazing sites one day each month throughout the year in all weathers to check:
Other volunteers are responsible for administrative, financial or publicity tasks and assisting with the moving of ponies. Lookerers duties are set out in a rota for three month intervals by the Grazing Co-ordinator, with whom they can make telephone contact should a problem arise.
The Trust is also committed to public education in the need for conservation of the wildlife and biodiversity of the South Downs and Ashdown Forest, part of our national heritage. To this end, the Trust attends a number of displays and events during the year.
We welcome donations which can be sent to our registered address and made payable in the full name of the Trust. You can also join our ‘Friends of...’ and contribute to the Trust.
If you are a taxpayer, the value of your donation can be increased by the tax office at no cost to you subject to you providing written authority. If you are entitled to a tax rebate, you might wish to consider donating. To donate all or part of your tax rebate to this charity please enter the following code in your tax return: SAR96VG
